Hi Everyone, it’s been pouring rain here and unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get the outfit post up I wanted to. So, in lieu of posting photos of me in the rain looking like a drowned rat, I wanted to share with you my most recent experience with 2 new foundations instead. Fingers crossed that it clears up soon!

Truth be told, I change my foundation like I change my socks! So it’s only natural that I tried these 2 new foundations! You all know that I am your Guinea Pig, I try things out, so you don’t have to (unless they’re worth it)!

So are these 2 much talked about foundations Hot or Not?

Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint: Hot!

What it is: An oil free formula that provides a soft matte finish with the help of transparent blurring powders.

I have combination skin, so during long days, regular foundations don’t hold up. They start to separate, and make me look way too oily by day’s end. I wore the Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint during a long day on purpose, to really test it out! I applied it with my Beauty Blender (of course!). It provided a light to medium coverage, and didn’t feel heavy. One of the things I really liked about it, was that it wasn’t so matte that it made my skin look sallow, dull or listless. It still looked like skin.

I checked on it’s wearability throughout the day. During a time I normally would have found myself blotting shine and touching up, I didn’t need to! It still looked as fresh as when I applied it. It felt breathable and light too, making it a great option for warm/humid days.

What you need to know in a nutshell:

Coverage– Sheer, buildable to medium

SPF– 30

Finish– Demi Matte (not so matte that it looks dull)

Application: Easy (very forgiving and didn’t require a lot of blending)

Wear Time– Above average, (I wore it for 13 hours and it looked great)

Feel– Felt comfortable and breathable on skin

Burberry Cashmere Foundation: Not! Not for me at least.

What it is: a light weight oil free foundation with a soft matte lasting finish.

This one didn’t pass my test. I applied it with my Beauty Blender, and wore it on a long day, too, just to be fair. The coverage is more than the Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint and it feels heavy. I also had an issue with the color. I tried out several, and they all had way too much yellow in them for me. I found myself having to touch up and blot throughout the day. At one point, I was out with friends and we took a photo. I made my friend delete it because of how shiny I looked!

What you need to know in a nutshell:

Coverage- Medium to high

SPF- 20

Finish– Soft Matte

Application– Difficult (well, as difficult as applying foundation can be at least!)

I had to blend this a lot to keep it from looking heavy and cakey

Wear Time– Average, it didn’t last longer or stay matte as promised

Feel– On the heavy side, not that comfortable

Hope this helps, thanks for reading!
